2 Wing Reunion
Grostenquin, France, May 2006

If you were to do enough research - you would probably find that there are literally hundreds, if not thousands, of travel tips that apply to France. We do not wish to recreate what already exists on the Internet - and will offer links to what appear to be some well researched material in the line of "Travel Tips".

As can be expected - there will always be a few things that creep through the cracks - so we will slowly, with your help, build our own list. Feel free to share your "Travel Tips" by advising this web site via an email message. Many thanks.

2 Wing Travel Tips

1 - Electricity is provided at 220/240 volts which means you must allow for the fact that our electric appliances such as hair blowers and razors are 110 volts. A small transformer, less than 2" by 2" can be purchased at your local hardware store for less than $20.00.

2 - The Euro is being used in most European countries. Check our "currency exchange" link below.

When Gerry and I were in France we found that the local hotels and restaurants were reluctant to accept travelers cheques but would with a fee. I used my ATM card at the many local ATMs and was pleasantly surprised to see no fees on my bank statement. They all accepted our credit cards.

Car Rental/Travel Trailer Tips

It is cheaper to rent a car through a Canadian outlet. Insurance must be purchased there.

Germany and France does not require of non-European residents an International Driving permit. However, Austria, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, Portugal and Spain do, technically speaking, still require this permit, which permit can be bought at your domestic auto club office (AAA, AA, CAA, etc.)
